Risks of subsidence and ground cracks:
THE RISK OF SUBSIDENCE APPEARS IN AREAS WHERE THERE ARE SOLUBLE ROCKS, NAMELY LIMESTONE ROCKS, WHERE GAPS AND CAVERNS APPEAR IN THE ROCKS. THEY MAY COLLAPSE WHEN THE GROUND LOADS ABOVE THEM INCREASE, EITHER NATURALLY OR BY HUMAN ACTION, AND THESE ROCKS COLLAPSE TO FORM SINKHOLES AND CAUSE DANGER TO THE INSTALLATIONS AND INFRASTRUCTURE BUILT ON THEM. AS FOR GROUND CRACKS AND FAULTS, THEY OCCUR AS A RESULT OF NATURAL FACTORS OR CAUSED BY MAN. AMONG THE NATURAL FACTORS THAT HELP IN THE OCCURRENCE OF GROUND CRACKS AND FISSURES ARE EARTHQUAKES AND VOLCANOES, AND THEY DEPEND MAINLY ON THE NATURE OF THE GEOLOGICAL STRUCTURES AND THE QUALITY OF THE ROCKS OR SOIL. ONE OF THE HUMAN FACTORS THAT CONTRIBUTE TO CRACKING AND CRACKING IN THE GROUND IS THE DEPLETION OF NATURAL RESOURCES FROM THE GROUND, SUCH AS WATER AND MINERAL RESOURCES, WHICH LEAVE SUBTERRANEAN GAPS AND POROUS GAPS IN THE GROUND, CAUSING IT TO CRACK, SPLIT, AND SUBSIDE.

- STUDY THE RISKS RELATED TO LANDSLIDES AND CRACKS AND THEIR IMPACT ON THE INFRASTRUCTURE.
- EDUCATING THE COMMUNITY AND PROTECTING THEM FROM THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS RESULTING FROM THE DANGERS OF LANDSLIDES AND CRACKS.
- IDENTIFYING DANGEROUS PLACES EXPOSED TO LANDSLIDES AND CRACKS.
- DEVELOPING THE NECESSARY SOLUTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS TO REDUCE AND MITIGATE THESE RISKS.
- CREATING A DATABASE FOR THE LOCATIONS OF THE RISKS OF LANDSLIDES AND CRACKS IN THE KINGDOM OF SAUDI ARABIA.
- EDUCATING THE COMMUNITY ABOUT RATIONALIZING GROUNDWATER CONSUMPTION AND ORGANIZING IRRIGATION OPERATIONS FOR FARMS IN ORDER TO AVOID THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS RESULTING FROM THE FORMATION OF GROUND CRACKS.
